Having a Relationship With Your Child Minimize
We work so hard as therapists for our child...but are we having a relationship?

As much as I know you are working hard dear parent, consider this...what is more imporant...that you have a relationship with your child...or that he knows his letters?

Wait...at times that was a hard question for me to ask because our children DO need their academics to survive, they do need to learn to talk....they do need these things. But friends, don't forget to work on your relationship.

A relationship, or a healthy one, is not asking tons and tons of questions, naming your colors over and over again, or counting the objects every time you walk into a room. A relationship is about sharing, taking time, being ....stopping and spending time. Dear parent, stop, take time, build the relationship. You won't be sorry.

Be a Mom Too :) Minimize
This section is about being a mom (or dad) therapist but my friend, you need to be a mommy too.

Don't spend all your time being a therapist.  Your baby needs mommy.  Spend down time, go places, swing, bounce him on your legs...love him.

Don't lose the mommy time with your child.  It is after all the most important thing and some times one of the first things to go when autism moves into our homes.

Take it from some one who is now 10 years down the road...you will be glad you spent the mommy time.
