If you are a parent and therapist to your child...I have to tell you, you don't know it all:)
The worst mistake we can make as parent/therapists is to decide we know it.....we don't know.
It is critical as you grow as your child's Autism therapist to accept that it can take years to be a good therapist. It's the only way you will continue to improve, continue to learn. It is hard, some of us in our 30's , 40's even 50's, agreeing to be mentored, taught and critiqued by others.
My caution to you is that when you decide you've learned it all about Autism, you will stop learning. It's really hard and we don't want to feel incompetent. But we are. We can't know what people who have studied this for years know. We have to look at it as starting a new thing, learning a totally knew host of skills and a new plate of knowledge.
And to get good at something takes years. This is not a bad thing because you will in accepting this become THE best therapist your child could possibly have.
Let's get going!,
